The Toronto Police would like to advise the public of an arrest made in a firearms investigation.
It is alleged that:
- on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, police were notified of a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle in the intersection of Eglinton Avenue West and Leslie Street
- police attended and conducted an investigation
- the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident was injured and was taken to hospital
-while investigating the accident, police observed a handgun lying on the floor mat of the vehicle
- the handgun was a .25 calibre handgun and was seized by police
On Tuesday, October 4, 2016, Jonathan D'Aversa, 24, of Richmond Hill, was arrested. He was charged with:
1. Careless storage of a prohibited device
2. Unauthorized possession of a firearm
3. Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
4. Possession of a prohibited weapon obtained by crime
5. Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon in a motor vehicle
6. Possession of a prohibited device and possession of property obtained by crime
He was scheduled to appear at College Park Courts, on Tuesday October 4, 2016, at 2 p.m., room 507.
