Media advisory, Thursday, May 30, 2013, 1:15 p.m., Heaquarters, 40 College Street, Law enforcement personnel blaze a trail for charity, Temporary road closures

On Thursday, May 30, 2013, the 26th Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run will be held in support of Special Olympics Ontario.

Deputy Chief Mark Saunders, Toronto Police Services Board Chair Alok Mukerjee, and Toronto Police Association President Mike McCormack will be on hand to kick off the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

The opening ceremonies will take place at police headquarters at 1:15 p.m.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the designated charity of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police. All funds raised through this program help to provide a local year-round program of fitness, recreation and competition for athletes with an intellectual disability.

Temporary road closures will be in effect along the following routes:

- eastbound curb lane of College Street to Yonge Street
- southbound curb lane of Yonge Street to Wellington Street
- westbound curb lane of Wellington Street to Simcoe Street
- southbound in the east curb lane of Simcoe Street to the dispersal area at Front Street West

Temporary intersection closures will also occur along southbound University Avenue, from College Street to King Street West, as event-walkers pass through the intersections.
