Citizen arrests man with gun, Bloor Street West/Lansdowne Avenue area, Liban Douale, 29, faces 16 charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest of an armed man.

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at approximately 2 a.m., a man approached two occupants of a vehicle in the Bloor Street West/Lansdowne Avenue area

- a citizen saw that the man was armed with a gun

- the citizen kept control of the armed man while others called police

- the citizen turned his custody over to police

It is further alleged that:

- a loaded handgun was seized

Liban Douale, 29, of Toronto, is charged with:

1) Robbery
2) Use Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
3) Carry Concealed Weapon
4) Weapons Dangerous
5) two counts of Point Firearm
6) Carless Use of Firearm
7) Possession of a Firearm with Ammunition
8) Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
9) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
10) Assault
11) Point Firearm
12) Threaten Bodily Harm
13) Threaten Death
14) Possession Firearm While Prohibited
15) Fail to Comply with Recognizance

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, 2 p.m., room 111.

The citizen will be recommended for a Civilian Citation.
