On Tuesday March 8, 2016, at 10:40 a.m., students of the Queen Victoria Public School, at 100 Close Ave, will be recognized as the winners of the Parkdale Community Food Bank Drive.
Members of 14 Division, including Superintendent Frank Bergen, in partnership with the Michael "Pinball" Clemons Foundation, and the Parkdale Community Foodbank, will be in attendance to award the winners.
On December 1, 2015, students from nine elementary schools in the 14 Division area began participating in a month-long food drive challenge to raise much-needed food for the Parkdale Community food bank. The incentive was that the winning school would be awarded the chance to have Michael "Pinball" Clemons attend the school and speak to them. As a bonus, he would participate in a pizza party with the class which collected the most food. Queen Victoria Public School was both the winning school and the winning class.
Members of the media are invited to attend and capture this co-ordinated community effort, and the generosity of the local school students.
