On Tuesday, March 8, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Toronto Police Service headquarters, in the auditorium, the Toronto Police Service Employment Unit, in partnership with I Can Rise Above Karen McKenzie, The Taho Foundation, Peel Region Police Sergeant Matt Small and Victim Services Toronto, will be hosting a women’s day entrepreneur workshop conference for 60 female youth, from the Toronto and Peel Region area.
The Toronto Police Service will adopt the International 2016 theme, "Pledge For Parity," challenging our young women to have a better understanding of money management, how it can affect them in today's society and also encouraging these young women to “invest in their lives, first, and spend later.”
The morning session will start with TPS Employment Unit Commander Ms. Ann-Marie Henry welcoming our young women to the event. The students will be participating in the CashFlow 101 iPad game, where they will learn about passive income and how to make money work for you. The afternoon session will consist of youth participating in an interactive open discussion.
Special guest speakers Tracy Moore, host of Canada's longest-running lifestyle show Cityline; TPS Superintendent Debra Preston; TPS Director Ms. Sandra Califaretti; TPS Inspector Sonia Thomas; OPP Detective Sergeant Vanessa Leslie; Kirin Singh (author of "The Ki to Success,"); Carleen Dehaney, Director of Finances INVIVO Communications; and various other female role models will also be in attendance.
