Sexual Assault Alert, Man charged in Sexual Assault and Child Exploitation investigation, James Simmerson, 48, faces 10 charges, Police believe there may be more victims

Members of Toronto Police 43 Division, in partnership with the TPS Child Exploitation Section, would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a Sexual Assault and Child Exploitation investigation.

It is alleged that:

- between 2008 and January 2015, the man sexually assaulted a girl

- the assaults took place in the Highway 2/Dale Road area of Port Hope and the Danforth Road/Eglinton Avenue East area of Toronto.

As part of the ongoing investigation, search warrants were executed and various pieces of computer equipment seized.

It is further alleged that:

- sexual abuse images of children were found on the computer equipment

It is also alleged that:

- between 2008 and 2012, the man sexually assaulted a woman

- the assaults took place in the Highway 2/Dale Road area of Port Hope

James Simmerson, 48, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1. Three counts of Sexual Assault
2. Two counts of Sexual Exploitation
3. Two counts of Invitation to Sexual Touching
4. Possession of Child Pornography
5. Two counts of Access Child Pornography

Investigators believe there may be other victims.

James Simmerson lived in the Port Hope area between 2005 and 2012, before moving to Toronto. He was also employed as a long-haul truck driver, travelling within Ontario and between Toronto and the United States, as far as Arizona.
