The Toronto Police would like to make the public aware of the arrests of two men in an investigation into three retail robberies.
It is alleged that:
- on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 3 p.m., a man entered a convenience store in the Victoria Park Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East area
- the man entered the store with his face covered with a bandana
- the man approached the counter, produced a handgun, and pointed it at the victim
- the man made a demand for cash, cigarettes and the victim's personal belongings
- the man fled with the property to a getaway vehicle driven by another man
It is further alleged that:
- on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 3:50 p.m., the man entered a convenience store in the Don Mills Road and Finch Avenue East area
- the man demanded money from the victim and pointed a handgun at the victim
- the man took the money and ran to a getaway vehicle and fled the area
It is further alleged that:
- on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 6 p.m., the men involved in the robberies were observed by 32 Division officers acting suspiciously in the area of Sheppard Avenue East and Willowdale Avenue
- the men were investigated and arrested
- the property stolen during the robberies was located
As a result of investigation by Hold Up, the two men were further charged with the robbery of a convenience store that occurred on Sunday, March 1, 2015, in the Kipling Avenue and Steeles Avenue West area.
Fady Elajami, 32, of Brampton, has been arrested and charged with:
1) three counts of Robbery while armed with Firearm
2) three counts of Disguise with Intent
3) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
He was scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, 10 a.m., room 412.
Anthony McDonald, 22, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with:
1) three counts of Robbery while armed with Firearm
2) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
