The Cycling for Success Program is a high-energy fitness program that brings students and police together to strengthen relationships. It is also intended to give Toronto's youth an opportunity to learn new skills while building their self-confidence and self-esteem, which sets the stage for future success.

On Tuesday, March 3, 2015, and Wednesday, March 4, 2015, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Toronto Police Service 42 Division's Cycling for Success Program will take place at Joyride 150, at 150 Bullock Drive in Markham.

The program, created three years ago, involves students from schools in 32, 33, 41, 42 and 43 Divisions. It starts with the fitness component, held last month at LA Fitness, then moves on to four bike training sessions at Joyride 150. The pinnacle of the program, held on Saturday, June 6, 2015, will be the Malvern Bike Race, during which time students compete in a thrill-seeking timed race.

This opportunity for police and youth to come together and discover the sport of cycling was created and led by Constable Diana Joness of 42 Division, a former competitive cyclist. This program is also funded through the generous support of ProAction Cops & Kids.

For further information, please contact Constable Joness at 416-808-4200 or by email at diana.joness@torontopolice.on.ca or S/Sgt David Rydzik of 42 Division Community Response Unit at 416-808-4254 or by email at david.rydzik@torontopolice.on.ca.
