On Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at 2:55 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Midland Avenue at Silver Star Drive (South Shields Avenue is on the east side of Midland Avenue; Silver Star Drive is on the west side).
It is alleged that:
- a 38-year-old woman, was driving a 2010 Honda Civic, westbound on South Shields Drive, attempting to make a left turn to southbound Midland Avenue
- a 43-year-old man was attempting to cross Midland Avenue, from the west side to the east side, south of the intersection
- as the Honda made the left turn, the pedestrian was struck
- the driver of the Honda left the scene of the collision.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Bao Chen, 38, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) Obstruct peace officer
2) Fail to stop at scene of accident causing bodily harm
She is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, 2 p.m. courtroom 407.
