On Friday, November 21, 2014, at 3:35 a.m., police received a call for a fire at a convenience store in the Queen Street West and John Street area.
It is alleged that:
- an unknown man set a fire at the front of a convenience store
- he then went to the rear and set another fire
- citizens assisted but could not put out the fire
- residential apartments, above the store, had to be evacuated
- fairly extensive damage was done to the building
On Friday, November 21, 2014, at 8:14 a.m., Nasser Obsieh, 36, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:
1) Arson With Disregard for Human Life
2) Mischief Endangering Life
3) Mischief Over $5000
4) Fail to Comply with Probation
He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, November 22, 2014, 10 a.m., room 101.
