Arrest made in Human Trafficking investigation, Man faces 10 charges, Photograph Released

On Friday, September 26, 2014, the Toronto Police Service's Human Trafficking Enforcement Team began an investigation into a Human Trafficking occurrence.

It is alleged that:

- a 30-year-old woman was forced into the sex trade

- she travelled between Ottawa and Toronto for the purpose of working in the sex trade

- she was forced to reach a quota of $2,000 per day

- she was assaulted by the accused when she tried to leave

- she was forced into turning over her earnings to the accused

On Friday, September 26, 2014, Michael Stephen Johnson, 36, of Toronto, was arrested.

He has been charged with the following:

1) Trafficking in persons by recruiting
2) Material benefit resulting from trafficking in persons
3) Trafficking in persons withhold documents
4) Exercise Control of Person for Prostitution
5) Living on avails of prostitution
6) Uttering threats
7) Assault
8) Forcible Confinement
9) Obstruct peace officer
10)Fail to comply with recognizance

He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East at 10 a.m.

Police are concerned there may be more victims.
