On Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 5:25 p.m., police received a call for a personal injury collision at Yonge Street at Pleasant Boulevard.
It is alleged that:
- two motorcyclists, a 29-year-old man, and a 30-year-old man, were stunt driving, northbound on Yonge Street, approaching Pleasant Boulevard
- a man, 75, was driving a 2004 BMW X3 vehicle, southbound, turning left on to eastbound Pleasant Boulevard
- the BMW struck one of the northbound motorcycles, ejecting the 29-year-old driver
- the driverless motorcycle then struck a woman, 67, walking on the east sidewalk of Yonge Street.
The woman had life-threatening injuries and the motorcycle driver had non-life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to hospital.
Two drivers investigated for this incident have now been charged.
The driver of the Yamaha R6, Haytham Markos, 29, of Brampton, has been charged with:
1) Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm
2) Criminal negligence causing bodily harm
3) Stunt driving
He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, 11 a.m., courtroom 111.
The driver of the other motorcycle, Narciso Castro Gonzales, 30, of Ajax, he has been charged with:
1) Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
2) Stunt driving
