On Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 4:18 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Yonge Street near Cummer Avenue.
It is reported that:
- a 29-year-old man was driving a 2014 Dodge Charger, southbound on Yonge Street, in the curb lane approaching the traffic signal which governs the private driveway at 5800 Yonge Street
- a 22-year-old woman was driving a 2009 Acura TSX, northbound on Yonge Street, attempting to make a left turn in to the driveway of 5800 Yonge Street
− the Dodge Charger struck the Acura in the intersection
- the collision caused the Dodge to leave the roadway and strike a traffic signal pole on the southwest corner of the intersection
- a 42-year-old man, walking southbound on the west side of Yonge Street, was also struck
The 42 year-old man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, the driver and passenger of the Dodge Charger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital. The driver of the Acura TSX suffered minor injuries.
