On Tuesday, June 10, 2014, the Toronto Police Service started an investigation into a Human Trafficking occurrence.
It is alleged that:
- a 22 year-old woman was forced into prostitution after being threatened by a man
- the man intimidated her into giving him the money she earned
-the man took her debit card and used her PIN to withdraw money from her account.
On Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at 9:30 p.m., an arrest was made.
Travis Savoury, 36, of Toronto, is charged with:
1) Trafficking in Persons
2) Trafficking in Person Receive a Material Benefit
3) Exercise Control
4) Uttering a Death Threat
5) Assault
6) Fail to Comply with Recognizance
He was scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Wednesday, June 11, 2014.
Police believe there may be more victims.
