In Ontario, May is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Toronto Police Service kicked off the Sexual Assault Awareness Month Campaign, in partnership with Covenant House and East Metro Youth Service, on Monday, May 5, 2014., in the lobby at police headquarters.
The kick-off sought to bring awareness to the issue of Human Trafficking. Human Trafficking involves the exploitation of people through force, coercion, threat, fraud or deception and may include acts generally defined as human rights abuses. Victims may be forced into labour, prostitution or some other form of servitude.
The Toronto Police Service Sex Crimes Unit is continuing awareness efforts by releasing information on persons wanted for sex-related offences. Some include Human Trafficking.
The following four people are wanted on outstanding warrants:
Jessica Naoufal, 22, of Montreal, is wanted for:
1) Procure to have Illicit Sexual Intercourse
2) Living on the avails of Juvenile Prostitution
3) Exercise Control
Shamrez Akram, 40, of Toronto, is wanted for:
1) Personating a Peace Officer
2) Extortion
3) Sexual Assault
4) Fail to Comply - Recognizance (three counts)
DShawn Rose, 21, of Toronto, is wanted for:
1) Procuring a Person to Become a Prostitute
2) Exercise Control
3) Live on the Avails of Prostitution (Under 18)
Tyron Correra, 55, of Toronto, is wanted for:
1) Unlawfully in a Dwelling
2) Sexual Assault
3) Threatening Death
4) Mischief Under
