On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at approximately 1:35 p.m., police received a report of a collision at the intersection of Kipling Avenue and Belfield Road area.
It is reported that:
- a 59-year-old-man was driving a blue 2019 Volkswagen Jetta westbound on Highway 409, exiting onto the Kipling off-ramp
- at the same time, a 2015 Toyota Rav4 was northbound Kipling Avenue, and a 2017 cargo van was southbound Kipling Avenue at Belfield Road
- the Volkswagen Jetta struck the Toyota Rav4 and then subsequently struck the cargo van
- the driver of the Volkswagen Jetta sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a hospital. The driver later succumbed to his injuries
- a 64-year-old-woman in the Volkswagen Jetta suffered non-life-threatening injuries
- the drivers of the remaining two vehicles remained on scene, having sustained minor injuries
Police are requesting local residents, businesses, and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, or observed the vehicle prior to the collision, to contact investigators.
