The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in an ongoing Financial Crimes Fraud investigation.
This investigation - dubbed Project Cosmo - has spanned over a year and two people were previously arrested and charged.
Police now believe additional companies and people are involved in defrauding members of the public. This now includes a community church in North York.
Earlier this year, officers in the Toronto Police Financial Crimes Unit – Corporate Crimes Section conducted an investigation into a cosmetic ponzi scheme targeting the Filipino community in North York and the Greater Toronto Area.
That investigation focused on several fraudulent Canadian business transactions.
The companies allegedly involved are named as:
Mac Glamour Ltd.
Infy Trading Incorporated
B + E Investments
See previous news release.
The investigation has now expanded and officers continue to look into company Infy Trading Incorporated, located at 333 Wilson Avenue, North York.
It is alleged that:
- one of the directors of Infy Trading Inc., would recruit members of the community to obtain second mortgages, loans and credit cards to invest in the company
- the victims were told Infy Trading Inc had shares in the company Mac Glamour
- several corporate loan agreements for the company list three directors and signatories for the company
As a result of inquiries into Infy Trading Inc., two further companies are also allegedly involved and are named as:
D-Con Design and Construct Solutions Inc.
