The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in relation to a retail robbery that occurred on September 16, 2020, in the Dundas Street East and Parliament Street area.
It is alleged that:
- a man entered the store and began filling a gym bag with merchandise
- he attempted to leave without paying for the items
- store security confronted the man, at which point he took out a knife
- a struggle ensued, security was able to disarm the man and hold him on the ground
- a crowd began to gather around causing the security guard, fearing for his safety, to release the man
- he left the gym bag and fled the area on foot
On September 20, 2020, Jared Shmagola, 31, of No Fixed Address, was arrested and charged with:
1. Robbery
2. Weapons Dangerous
3. Three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation
He appeared in court, on September 22, 2020, at 9:30 a.m., at College Park, in room 501.
