Retail Robberies Investigation, Dundas Street West and Dovercourt Road area, Man arrested

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of a man arrested in relation to three retail robberies that occurred between August 27, 2020 and September 9, 2020, in the Dundas Street West and Dovercourt Road area.

It is alleged that:

- in each incident, a man entered the store wearing a hoodie and a mask

- he indicated he was armed with a weapon, however no weapons were seen

- the man made demands for money or products and threatened employees if they did not cooperate

- in each incident, the man took a quantity of cash or cigarettes before fleeing the area on foot

Hold Up Squad investigators determined the identity of the man and he was arrested by officers from 14 Division's Major Crime Unit.

It is further alleged that:

- a search warrant was executed at the man’s residence and clothing worn during the robberies was seized

Rui Bolarinho, 27, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1. Three counts of Robbery
2. Three counts of Disguise With Intent
3. Two counts of Uttering Threats
4. Four counts of Fail to Comply Recognizance

He appeared in court, on September 23, 2020, at 10 a.m., at Old City Hall, in room 101.
