On Saturday, May 4, at 6:30 p.m., doors will open to ProAction Cops & Kids Inaugural Discovery Gala being hosted at the Royal Ontario Museum, 100 Queens Park.
This sold out event will welcome 300 guests to celebrate the accomplishments of award winning ProAction youth and Police Officers from across all ProAction Chapters.
In 1991, ProAction’s first chapter was established in Toronto by the late John Bitove Sr. and Chief William McCormack. Building on ProAction’s success in Toronto, chapters were later established in Durham Region (2007), Hamilton (2008), Niagara Region (2014) and Halton Region (2017). Since inception ProAction has engaged over 412,000 young people in 2,000 life-changing programs under the leadership of our police partners.
The evening will pay tribute to those officers who go over and beyond the call of duty to provide skill-building and life-changing opportunities to young people most in need. Youth participants who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and taken a leadership role in a ProAction program will be recognized for achieving goals that, at one time, were thought to be unattainable.
Doors will open for a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. allowing guests time to meet and mingle with ProAction award winning youth and officers. This reception will be followed by the main dinner and awards presentation starting at 7:30 p.m.
Special guests include Toronto Chief of Police Mark Saunders, Halton Region Chief of Police Stephen Tanner and many police officers and youth representing all ProAction Chapters. The evening will be hosted by Canadian Icon and Sports Broadcaster Rod Black.
Tickets are still available for the ProAction Cops & Kids After Party starting at 10 p.m., and hosted by local favourite DJ Tilt.
At ProAction Cops & Kids, we bring cops and kids together in skill-building and mentoring programs to create trust, respect and safer communities. We envision a community that trusts and collaborates with police to create safer neighbourhoods and opportunities for young people.
