On Sunday, November 24, 2013, at approximately 8:10 p.m., police responded to a call for a shooting out front of the North Kipling Community Centre/North Kipling Junior and Middle School located at 2 Rowntree Road, in the Kipling Avenue and Finch Avenue area.
Officers arriving on scene found a man suffering from obvious injuries. He was taken by ambulance to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The man has been identified as Neeko Mitchell, 25, of Toronto.
Investigators understand that, due to a community event that was occurring at the time of the incident, a large number of people may have been both inside and outside of the community centre/school at the time of the shooting. Police would like to speak with anyone who was present or who may have seen the victim prior to or after the shooting.
