The Toronto Police Service Hold-Up Squad would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in a bank robbery investigation.
It is alleged that:
-on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at approximately 6:10 p.m., a man entered a bank branch in Broadview Avenue and Gerrard Street area
- the man approached the customer service representative and made a verbal demand for money
- the man threatened to shoot the customer service representative if they did not comply
- the man vaulted the counter, reached into the cash box drawer and grabbed a quantity of cash and fled the bank
Officers from 55 Division were in the area and saw the man fleeing the bank and immediately placed him under arrest.
Carlos Olivera, 48, of no fixed address, has been charged with:
1. Robbery
2. Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over
3. Disguise with Intent
He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park, on Friday, January 18, 2018, in room 501.
