Man arrested for Bank Robberies, Michael Joseph Brown, 30

Toronto Police Service Hold Up Investigators would like to make the public aware of an arrest of a man involved in two bank robberies at the same branch located in the area of Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West

It is alleged that:

- on Friday, March 2, 2018, a barefaced man entered the branch and approached a 62-year-old customer using the automatic teller machine

- a man attempted to remove the money that the customer had just withdrawn and a struggle ensued

- the man was not successful during this attempt and approached a teller at the counter

- the man made a verbal demand for money and threatened to shoot the teller, if she did not comply

- the man obtained a quantity of cash and fled


It is further alleged that:

- on Thursday, March 8, 2018, a man entered the same bank branch wearing sunglasses and a scarf in order to conceal his identity

- the man approached the bank manager and made a verbal demand for money

- the man obtained a quantity of money and fled

On Thursday, March 8, 2018, Michael Joseph Brown, 30 of Toronto was arrested. He is charged with:

1. three counts of Robbery
2. Disguise with Intent
3. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Friday, March 9, 2018, at 10 a.m., room 204
