Man, 19, facing 18 charges in investigation into two shooting incidents

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an investigation into two recent shooting incidents in the city's northwest corridor.

On Thursday, November 23, 2017, at 6:30 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the Scarlett Road, north of Eglinton Avenue West area.

It is alleged that:

- at least four men drove to the area in a Honda Civic, later determined to be stolen

- two of the men exited the vehicle, made their way to a specific townhouse in a housing complex in the area

- at least one shot was fired from a handgun into the front door of the unit

- the men then returned to the vehicle and fled the area

It is further alleged that:

- on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at approximately 1:45 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West area

- once on scene, officers found a man with multiple gunshots wounds to the neck and shoulder

- the man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains in hospital

Members of the Area Field Command Investigative Support Unit started an investigation. On Monday, December 11, 2017, with assistance from 12 Division Community Response Unit and Major Crime Unit, an arrest was made.

Abdullahi Mohamed, 19, of Toronto, was arrested in connection with both shootings. He has been charged with:

1) Attempt Murder
2) Aggravated Assault
3) Discharge Firearm As to the Life or Safety of Another Person
4) Careless Storage of a Firearm
5) Point Firearm
6) Possess Weapon for Committing and Offence
7) Carry Concealed Weapon
8) Possess Firearm Other than Rest. or Prohibited Firearm without holding a License
9) Unlicensed Person Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon
10) Unlicensed Person Possess Prohibited Ammunition
11) Possess Firearm other than rest. or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a license
12) Possess Loaded regulated firearm
13) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Exceeding $5000
14) Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm
15) Careless Storage of a Firearm
16) Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm without holding a License and Registration Certificate
17) Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly without holding a License and Registration Certificate
18) Discharge Firearm Into a Place Reckless to others

He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, 10 a.m.
