The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a stolen Co-Op taxi cab.
It is reported that:
- on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, a Co-Op taxi cab with a Toronto Taxi identification number 666 was parked near 25 Mabelle Avenue.
- some time between 12:45 a.m. and 3:45 a.m., the cab was stolen
Police are seeking the public's assistance locating this cab and are also issuing a Public Safety Alert in regards to this theft.
It is mandatory that all taxi operators have their identification clearly visible to the occupants of any operating taxi, which allows for identification of the operator and shows that the operator has been approved.
Because this taxi has been stolen, and possibly illegally operated by unknown person(s), there is no way for an occupant to confirm the identity of the operator. Therefore, public safety is compromised.
