It is with great sadness that we inform the members of the Toronto Police Service and the public that Constable John Zivcic succumbed to his injuries at 12:35 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013.
He was surrounded by his family.
Chief Bill Blair extends his condolences to John's mother, brother, sister and all of his extended family.
In addition, our thoughts are with John's friends and colleagues at 22 Division and across the city. We are a family here at the Service and we are all grieving this devastating news.
We are grateful for the outpouring of support that we have received from the public.
The Service and the Toronto Police Association (TPA) are here to support the family as they move forward in this process and to support our officers as they grieve the loss of John.
The Office of the Chief and the TPA are working closely with the family on making funeral arrangements. We will issue an update when details are available.

Arrest made in investigation into armed robberies, Fariborz Mashhadi, 31, faces 12 charges
The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in an investigation into armed robberies.
It is alleged that:
- during November 2013, a man was involved in a series of armed robberies while wearing a disguise and utilizing a silver handgun
On Thursday, November 21, 2013, Fariborz Mashhadi, 31, was arrested for a street robbery at an ATM.
As a result of an investigation, several search warrants were executed.

Fallen Toronto Police Service officer, Constable John Zivcic, 34
On Saturday, November 30, 2013, just before 4 p.m., a 22 Division traffic officer was responding to an emergency call for an impaired driver.
The officer was involved in a collision with a civilian vehicle in the intersection of Bloor Street West and Neilson Drive.
He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the second vehicle, a woman, was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The collision investigation is ongoing.
The officer involved in the collision has been identified as Constable John Zivcic, 34, a six-year and three-month member of the Service.
On Monday, December 2, 2013, Constable Zivcic succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Arrangements are being made to donate John's organs in an effort to save other lives.

It is alleged that:
- on Monday, November 11, 2013, at 8:50 p.m., three people attended a home in the Sheppard Avenue West/Jane Street area
- the resident, a man, who was home with three children under the age of six, answered a knock at his door
- he was confronted by the three people, one armed with a revolver, and the other two masked
- a struggle ensued and continued into the hallway and into the elevator
- the gunman fired two rounds, both of which went through the man's sweater
On Tuesday, November 26, 2013, the Hold Up Squad and 31 Division executed a search warrant.
A boy, 17, was arrested. He is charged with:
1) Armed Robbery
2) Attempted Murder
3) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
4) Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
5) Careless Use of a Firearm
6) Use of a Firearm during Commission of an Indictable Offence

Investigators are still looking for a fifth suspect, Victor Ramos, 21. He is wanted for:
1) Manslaughter

On Friday, November 29, 2013, between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., a quantity of Methadone was lost on the TTC in the Queen Street East and Logan Avenue area.

In August 2013, the Toronto Police Financial Crimes Unit commenced an investigation dubbed "Project PACE" (Partners Against Counterfeiting Everywhere) which spanned across Canada and the United States.

Fugitive Captured Ki Yeung Jaung, 42, wanted in Korea for Homicide
The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made of a fugitive.
On Thursday, November 28, 2013, Toronto Police Fugitive Squad, Canada Border Services Agency, and the Provincial R.O.P.E. Squad arrested Ki Yeung Jaung, 42, in Kingston, Ontario.
It is alleged that:
- on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, he committed a homicide while living in Korea
He is currently in detention at the Maplehurst Correctional Facility.

- a woman was walking along the sidewalk when a man approached her from the opposite direction and sexually assaulted her
- the man was last seen walking westbound on College Street
He is described as black, 5'7", 40 to 45, medium build. He was wearing a winter hat and prescription glasses.

Visitation and funeral services for Constable John Zivcic
The following arrangements have been finalized in partnership with the officer's family:
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Delmoro Funeral Home, at 61 Beverly Hills Drive, in Toronto.
This visitation is open to the public.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the Toronto Congress Centre, in the North Building, 650 Dixon Road.
This service is open to the public.
A procession will take place prior to the start of the memorial service. The procession route and associated road closures will be confirmed at a later date.
Additional visitations will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Bocchinfuso Funeral Home, 2 Regent Street, in Thorold.

A private, family funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at 2 p.m., at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Croatian Church, 360 River Road, in Welland. Interment to follow.
This service is not open to the public.

Update regarding homicide #53/2013, Images of suspects released
On Sunday, November 24, 2013, at approximately 8:10 p.m., police responded to a call for a shooting out front of the North Kipling Community Centre/North Kipling Junior and Middle School located at 2 Rowntree Road, in the Kipling Avenue and Finch Avenue area.
The victim, Neeko Mitchell, 25, was shot multiple times and died as a result of his injuries.

Police have released images taken from surveillance cameras in the community centre and are asking anyone who may be able to help identify the three suspects to come forward.
