The Toronto Police Service is pleased to be hosting a graduation ceremony for 20 new police recruits on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at noon, at the Toronto Police College, 70 Birmingham Street.

In attendance for this special occasion will be Mayor John Tory, Toronto Police Services Board Chair Andy Pringle, Toronto Police Services Board Vice Chair Jim Hart, Chief Mark Saunders, Deputy Chief Barbara McLean, Deputy Chief Shawna Coxon, Deputy Chief Peter Yuen, Deputy Chief Jim Ramer, and Chief Administrative Officer Tony Veneziano.

The graduating class is representative of Toronto’s diverse cultural community and brings a superior level of varied knowledge and abilities to the Service, including language skills, previous military or policing experience and post-secondary education.

The class is comprised of 10% women and 25% visible minority members. A total of 85% successfully completed post-secondary education and 70% have previous military or policing experience. A total of 35% of the class speak another language other than English, including Spanish, Punjabi, Russian, Urdu and Vietnamese.

Saturday, June 9, 2018 – Sunday, June 10, 2018, 11th Annual Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer, Exhibition Place, Road closures

On Saturday, June 9, 2018, and Sunday, June 10, 2018, the 11th annual Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer event will take place.

The main portion of the event will start at Exhibition Place and will include more than 4,600 cyclists who will ride either a 200-mile route or a 200-kilometre route that finishes in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Saturday, June 9, 2018: road closures & race set-up at 6 a.m. The ride will start at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Route: 200 km
Formation area: Exhibition Place
Southbound: Ontario Drive to Lake Shore Boulevard West
Westbound: Lake Shore Boulevard West (all westbound lanes) to Windermere Avenue
Northbound: Windermere Avenue to The Queensway
Westbound: The Queensway (westbound curb lane only)
Turnover point: Toronto/Mississauga Border (The West Mall)

Route: 200 mile
Formation area: Exhibition Place
Southbound: Ontario Drive to Lake Shore Boulevard West
Westbound: Lake Shore Boulevard West (all westbound lanes) to Windermere Avenue
Northbound: Windermere Avenue to The Queensway
Westbound: The Queensway (westbound curb lane only)
Northbound: The West Mall
Westbound: Burnhamthorpe Road
Turnover point: Toronto/Mississauga Border (Etobicoke Creek)

Road closures:
6 a.m. until approximately 10:30 a.m.:
Westbound Lake Shore Boulevard West, from Strachan Avenue to British Columbia Drive
8 a.m. until approximately 10:30 a.m.:
Westbound Lake Shore Boulevard West, from British Columbia Drive to Windermere Avenue

Lane restrictions will occur for the remainder of the routes.

Sunday, June 10, 2018: no road closures.

Motorists can expect delays in the area and should consider alternate methods of transportation.

The Toronto Police Service requests assistance locating a missing man.

Giuseppe Intrevado, 82, was last seen on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at approximately 9:30 a.m., in the Kipling Avenue and Dixon Road area.

He is described as 5'5", approximately 135 lbs., curly gray hair on the side, bald on top. He was last seen wearing a blue long-sleeve shirt, cream sweater with brown design, gray-and-blue checkered plaid jacket, blue jeans, gray runners. He is known to frequent the TTC.

Police are concerned for his safety.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance locating a man wanted in an investigation into an Assault in the Bathurst Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West area.

It is alleged that:

- during the two-day period of Monday, June 4, 2018, and Tuesday, June 5, 2018, a woman was forcibly confined, assaulted and threatened

Hussain Al-Naqeeb, 29, of Maple, is wanted for:

1) two counts of Assault with a Weapon
2) two counts of Uttering Threats
3) Forcible Confinement
4) Causing Unnecessary Suffering
5) Mischief Under $5000
6) Take Motor Vehicle without Consent
7) Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He is described as 5'10", 185 lbs.

He is to be considered violent, possibly armed with a knife. If seen, do not approach. Call 9-1-1 immediately.

Police seek assistance identifying Person of Interest in Assault Causing Bodily Harm investigation, Adelaide Street West and Duncan Street area, Security camera images of Person of Interest released

The Toronto Police Service requests assistance identifying a Person of Interest in an Assault Causing Bodily Harm investigation.

On Friday, February 23, 2018, a report was filed for an assault that occurred in the Adelaide Street West and Duncan Street area.

It is reported that:

- in the early morning hours of Friday, February 23, 2018, a man, 18, was involved in an altercation inside a bar where he was assaulted by an unknown person

- security escorted the man, 18, and the Person of Interest out of the bar as a result of a verbal dispute

It is further reported that:

- a short time later, the same man, 18, was assaulted by unknown person(s) outside the bar and received a broken jaw

Security camera images of the Person of Interest are released.

Portuguese Day Parade, Sunday, June 10, 2018, Dundas Street West and Lansdowne Avenue area

On Sunday, June 10, 2018, the Alliance of Portuguese Clubs and Associations of Ontario will host the annual Portuguese Day Parade.

Event organizers anticipate 100,000 spectators will line the parade route.

Participants will assemble on Lansdowne Avenue, from Bloor Street West to College Street, at 9 a.m.

It will proceed:

- southbound on Lansdowne Avenue to Dundas Street West
- eastbound on Dundas Street West to Gore Vale Avenue

Dispersal area: Dundas Street West and Gore Vale Avenue

Vehicles in the area will experience traffic delays and are advised to consider alternate routes.

Roads are expected to be fully reopened by 2 p.m.

This event will proceed regardless of weather conditions.

Toronto Challenge Run, Sunday, June 10, 2018

On Sunday, June 10, 2018, the 26th annual Toronto Challenge Run will take place.

This is both a 1-km walk and a 5-km walk/run. Event organizers are expecting approximately 3,500 participants.

Participants will assemble on University Avenue near Armoury Street.

At 9:30 a.m., they will depart along the following route:

Formation Area: University Avenue (Queen Street West to Armoury Street)

Northbound: University Avenue
Northbound: Queen’s Park Crescent West
Southbound: Queen’s Park Crescent East
Eastbound: Wellesley Street West
Southbound: Bay Street
Westbound: Adelaide Street West
Northbound: University Avenue

Dispersal Area: Nathan Phillips Square

Vehicles in the area will experience traffic delays and are advised to consider alternate routes.

Roads are expected to be fully reopened by 11 a.m.

This event will proceed regardless of weather conditions.

Aaron Reis, 13, was last seen on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at 11:30 a.m., in the Bathurst Street and Lawrence Avenue West area.

He is described as 5’4”, 110-120 lbs., medium build, black medium-length wavy hair, brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white long-sleeve button-down shirt, blue straight pants, black Crocs shoes.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Man, 42, charged in three Hate-motivated Assault investigations, Jane Street and Wilson Avenue area

The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of an arrest in three Hate-motivated Assault investigations.

On Wednesday, June 6, 2018, between 3 p.m. and 9:30 p.m, police were contacted about three separate incidents.

It is alleged that:

- in all three incidents, the women were waiting for a TTC bus at the corner of Jane Street and Wilson Avenue

- a man approached the women and began pulling their hijabs off their heads

On Thursday, June 7, 2018, Sayid Ahmed Abdullahi, 42, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) three counts of Assault
2) Mischief under $5000

He was scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Friday, June 8, 2018, 10 a.m., room 306.

Seven arrests in Aggravated Assault investigation, 103 Parkway Forest Drive, Man and six Young People face charges, Two men wanted, Images of the two men released

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of seven arrests in an Aggravated Assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Friday, May 25, 2018, a 19-year-old man was cycling towards a plaza at 103 Parkway Forest Drive

- he was confronted by several people who robbed him of his personal property

- he cycled away and stopped when he was struck by a weighted object

It is further alleged that:

- he was then surrounded by 15 people

- some began assaulting him while others cheered on

- he received a significant head injury and was rushed to hospital

The 19-year-old man remained in a coma for several days. He is now working towards recovery from his injuries.

On Thursday, June 7, 2018, Toronto Police Central North District executed numerous search warrants, resulting in the arrests of one man and six Young People.

Hassan Hassan, 36, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Aggravated Assault

He was scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Friday, June 8, 2018, 10 a.m., room 301.


A boy, 17, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Aggravated Assault
2) Obstructing Justice


A boy, 15, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Aggravated Assault


A boy, 17, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Aggravated Assault


A boy, 15, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Aggravated Assault
2) Robbery
3) Fail to Comply with court order


A boy, 17, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Aggravated Assault
2) Theft under $5000
3) Assault with a Weapon


A boy, 16, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Aggravated Assault
2) Robbery
3) Fail to Comply with court order


The Young People were scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Friday, June 8, 2018, 10 a.m.

The Young People cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Two men are wanted.

Nakhari Henry-Robinson, 18, of Toronto, is wanted for:

1) Aggravated Assault
2) Fail to Comply with court order


Tajon James, 19, of Toronto, is wanted for:

1) Aggravated Assault
2) Robbery

Images of these two men have been released.

Toronto Police Service Central North Criminal Investigations Bureau continues to investigate this matter. Any witnesses or persons who may have captured all or part of this event on video are encouraged to contact the police. All additional assistance from the community is appreciated.

On Friday, June 8, 2018, at 5:30 p.m., at Ryerson University, Toronto Chief of Police Mark Saunders will launch the first-ever Toronto Police Service hackathon, #HackTPS, in Ryerson’s DMZ.

Over the course of 48 hours, 150 developers, designers and innovators will be challenged to use technology to enhance real-time data and information sharing to enhance community safety in our city. Engaging the communities is an important element in the Toronto Police Service’s continued efforts to keep Toronto the safest city in North America.

Participants will be competing to win $10,000 and the opportunity to turn their innovative community safety ideas into a reality with TPS and DMZ.

Public Safety Alert, Cyclist injured on park trail

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an incident where a cyclist was injured riding on a trail in a park.

It is reported that:

- on Monday, June 4, 2018, at 12:15 p.m., a cyclist was riding on the dirt trails in the Bayview Avenue and Pottery Road area

- he came into contact with metal wire that had been strung between two trees on the path

- he sustained lacerations to his arms

The Toronto Police Service would like to remind trail users to be alert and report anything suspicious to your local police station.
