Assault with a Weapon, Suspect wearing plastic Spiderman mask, Dundas Street West and Augusta Avenue, Update, Man has been arrested

The Toronto Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in identifying a man involved in an assault with a weapon.

On Saturday, May 2, 2015, at 11:47 p.m., the Toronto Police Service received a call for an assault in the Dundas Street West and Augusta Avenue area.

It is reported that:

- a 16-year-old boy was assaulted with a skateboard by an unknown man in an unprovoked attack

- the boy sustained major injuries

On Monday, June 22, 2015, Ashton Gray, 27, of Toronto, was arrested.

He is charged with:

1) Aggravated Assault
2) Assault with a Weapon
3) Fail to Comply with Recognizance
4) Fail to Comply with Probation.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 9 a.m., at Old City Hall Court, 60 Queen Street West, Room 111.

Public Safety Alert, Stolen Medication

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a quantity of stolen medication.

On Wednesday June 24, 2015 at 7:08 am, containers of drug were stolen from 80 Front Street East.

A quantity of pills could be harmful or fatal if ingested, especially to children.

Appeal for Information from the Public, Homicide #37/2014, Jules Jashawn Morrison, 21

Police officers and community members joined in a canvass for information on June 27, 2015 at 1 Fountainhead Road to help solve the homicide of Jules Jashawn Morrison, 21, of Toronto.


On Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at approximately 5:15 p.m., police responded to calls for a shooting at 1 Fountainhead Road, in the stairwell. Callers indicated that two men were seen fleeing the scene.

It is reported that:

- officers began a search of the building and were able to locate an unresponsive man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in the 7th floor stairwell

- lifesaving efforts failed to revive him and he was pronounced dead


Police believe that the two men seen fleeing were directly involved and request the public's assistance identifying them.

Suspect #1: medium build, light-coloured long-sleeve hoodie, dark vest, dark pants

Suspect #2: medium build, dark coat, green hoodie, dark pants

Homicides #24/2015 and #25/2015,

On Sunday, June 28, 2015, at approximately 7 a.m., police were called to the Lisgar Street/Sudbury Street area for a shooting.

Once on scene, police located two men with obvious trauma. They were pronounced at the scene.

Police are seeking four Persons of Interest. They are all described as dark-skinned men in their mid-twenties. One man was described as east African, possibly Somalian, and spoke with a distinct southern American drawl.

Police are also seeking two cars involved. One is described as a newer-model, silver compact car, and may have sustained damage from a collision as it fled the scene. The other is described as a brown compact car.

Missing girl, Serenity Rossi, 12

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a missing girl.

Serenity Rossi, 12, was last seen on Saturday, June 28, 2015, at approximately 3 p.m., in the Yorkdale subway station area.

She is described as white, slender, 5'3", and has long dark hair with blonde highlights. She was last seen wearing acid-wash blue jeans, a white-and-blue striped shirt and sandals.

Police are concerned for her safety.

Ashbridge's Bay Canada Day fireworks display, Wenesday, July 1, 2015, 10 p.m., Traffic congestion and safety advice

The Ashbridge's Bay Canada Day Fireworks will take place on Wenesday, July 1, 2015, at 10 p.m. The fireworks display will last approximately 14 minutes, and can be seen on the boardwalk from Coxwell Avenue to Victoria Park Avenue.

Approximately 30,000 people are expected to attend this event.

Due to the large crowds, drivers can expect major traffic delays and limited parking in the area.

In past years, heavy congestion has resulted in numerous road closures in the area, including Lake Shore Boulevard East.

Parking Enforcement Officers will be patrolling the area, issuing tickets and towing illegally parked vehicles.

Police recommend spectators use public transit to attend this event. The TTC will be providing additional bus service to accommodate crowds. Those attending the fireworks are advised that they must be onboard a southbound Coxwell Avenue or Woodbine Avenue bus by 9 p.m. to ensure they arrive on time for the display.

As a reminder to those attending the Ashbridge's Bay fireworks, setting off personal fireworks in a public park is dangerous and unlawful. Fireworks brought into the area will be seized by police. Police will be patrolling and enforcing city by-laws, including the Liquor License Act.

East York Canada Day Festivities, Wednesday, July 1, 2015, Stan Wadlow Park, 373 Cedarvale Avenue, Road closures

On Wednesday, July 1, 2015, the East York Canada Day Corporation will be organizing Canada Day Festivities at Stan Wadlow Park, 373 Cedarvale Avenue.

The festivities will conclude with a fireworks display beginning at 10:15 p.m., weather permitting.

The following road closure will be in effect:

- Cosburn Avenue from Cedarvale Avenue to Oak Park beginning at 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. (midnight)

Motorists can expect delays.

On Monday, June 29, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., in the media gallery at headquarters, Detective Lisa Ferris, Sex Crimes, will update the media on an arrest made for two separate Sexual Assaults. DNA played a role in the investigation.

Arrest in Sexual Assault Investigation, Irfan Virji, 20, Police believe there may be other victims

The Toronto Police Service is alerting the public to an arrest in a Sexual Assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Sunday, June 14, 2015, a man placed an ad on the website Kijiji, for a room for rent in his condominium in the Kennedy Road and McNicoll Avenue area

- on Thursday, June 25, 2015, an 18-year-old woman attended the condominium to view the unit for rent

- the woman was offered alcoholic beverages and marijuana

- after viewing the unit, the woman was escorted out of the building by the man

- the woman was led to an area that required a key card to access and exit

- the man then sexually assaulted the woman

On Friday, June 26, 2015, Irfan Virji, 20, of Toronto, was arrested.

He has been charged with:

1) Sexual Assault

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, 2 p.m.

Police believe there may be more victims.

Firearm discharge alert, Lake Shore Boulevard West and Burlington Street

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a firearm discharge incident.

It has been reported that:

- on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at approximately 6:30 a.m, a vehicle described as a grey or silver 2015 Hyundai Sonata was seen driving in the Lake Shore Boulevard West and Burlington Street area

- the vehicle pulled up to the curb where a 22-year-old man was standing

- the driver of the vehicle began to interact with the man

- shots were fired from inside the vehicle in the direction of the man

- the vehicle fled from the area

- no one was injured

The Toronto Police Service would like to remind the public, if this vehicle is seen, to not approach the vehicle. Immediately contact police. Police would like to advise the public to be alert to any suspicious vehicles driving in their neighborhoods, and to call the police to report any such incident.

Police seek assistance identifying woman involved in Theft Over investigation, Art Gallery of Ontario, 317 Dundas Street West

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance identifying a woman involved in a Theft Over $5000 investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at approximately 3:50 p.m., a woman attended the Art Gallery of Ontario at 317 Dundas Street West

- the woman sat in the waiting area at the main entrance and took a purse containing a large amount of cash and valuable items

She is described as Asian, approximately 75, approximately 5'2", thin frail build, greyish, white, shoulder-length hair and walks slowly with a limp. She was wearing a dark jacket, pink flowery blouse and was carrying a blue shopping bag.

Man arrested in two separate Sexual Assault investigations, Keneth Grey, 70, faces two charges, Police believe there may be other victims

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in two separate Sexual Assaults.

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an Attempted Sexual Assault.

On Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police were called for unknown trouble in Roding Park, 600 Roding Street.

It is reported that:

- a 14-year-old girl was at Roding Park

- a man grabbed her shoulders and threw her to the ground before fleeing

The man is described as having an olive complexion, 30-40s, 5'9". He was wearing a dark hoody, dark-coloured golf hat, brown shorts, and was carrying a green single-strapped bag.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance with a Sexual Assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Sunday, September 7, 2014, at 2:30 p.m., a 28-year-old woman was walking through Roding Park in the Keele Street and Wilson Avenue area.

- the woman was chased and tackled by a man

- the man then sexually assaulted the woman

He is described as white, approximately 50, heavy build, with a black-and-white beard, wearing a black baseball hat, black windbreaker, blue shirt and black shorts.
An investigation, along with DNA evidence, allegedly resulted in the identification of a man.

On Thursday, June 25, 2015, Keneth Grey, 70, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) two counts of Sexual Assault

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Ave West on Thursday, July 2, 2015, 9 a.m.

Police believe there may be other victims.

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance identifying a man wanted for Attempt Murder.

On Friday, January 2, 2015, police informed the public about the investigation.

It was reported that:

- on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at approximately 2:15 a.m., police received a call for a shooting at Switch Nightclub at 55 Colborne Street

- three victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries

- a man was last seen running westbound on Colborne Street

The man is described as brown, wearing a dark jacket, dark pants and a distinct black-and-gold Blue Jays baseball cap.

Security camera images have been released. This man is considered armed and dangerous. Police advise the public not to approach him, but to contact police immediately by calling 9-1-1.

Richard Huth, 35, was last seen on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at 9:20 p.m., in the Dufferin Street and Rogers Road area.

He is described as 5'10", 180 lbs., short brown hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a Blue Jays baseball cap, black pullover jacket and beige khaki pants.

He may be driving a 2012 black, Chevy Orlando vehicle with Ontario licence plate AZPF 250.

Police are concerned for his safety.
