On Friday, December 5, 2014, 14 Division issued a news release saying they were looking for Dennis Drew, 37, of Toronto.

See previous release.

He is known to frequent shelters in the downtown area.

Police have issued a new photograph of Dennis Drew. Police warn the public that if he is located, do not approach him. Call 9-1-1. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Fugitive captured, Alphanso Washington Warren, 37

In April 2009, Alphanso Warren, 37, pleaded guilty to abandoning his baby, known as "Angelica Leslie." The infant was found alone, in a North York shopping mall parking lot, in the winter of 2008.

Warren received a one-year pre-trial custody and a two-year probation sentence. In 2009, during his probation, it is alleged that Warren fled Canada to his native Jamaica. A warrant was‎ issued for his arrest for failing to comply with probation for failing to report to police as directed by the court.

On Friday, December 5, 2014, Fugitive Squad received information that he was making arrangements to return to Canada. An investigation was started.

On Tuesday, December 9, 2014, the Fugitive Squad officers confirmed that he was on a flight to Toronto and, with the assistance of 33 Division, he was arrested and taken into custody at Lester B. Pearson International Airport.

He will be appearing at 1000 Finch Court on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, for a bail hearing.

Arrests in Carlingview Drive Robbery investigation, Links made to similar robberies of sex-trade workers, Two men, one woman outstanding

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of three arrests in a violent robbery investigation and further charges.

It is alleged that:

- on Saturday, October 25, 2014, Monday, October 27, 2014, and Sunday, December 7, 2014, three women, 20, 19 and 28, respectively, were in west-end hotels, working in the sex-trade

- on all three occasions, a man knocked on the hotel room door

- when the women opened the door, they were rushed by three men, a girl, and another woman

- the group ransacked the rooms, assaulting the victims, and stole their personal belongings


It is further alleged that:

- on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, a 22-year-old woman was in a west-end hotel, working in the sex-trade

- a man knocked on the hotel room door

- when the woman opened the door, she was rushed by three men

- the group ransacked the rooms, assaulted the victims, and stole their personal belongings

- the woman was then sexually assaulted by two of the men

- police were called


On Tuesday, December 9, 2014, police arrested two men and a girl.

Lenford Richards, 20, of Toronto, is charged in connection with five robberies, with:

1) six counts of Robbery
2) six counts of Forcible Confinement
3) Weapons Dangerous
4) five counts of Fail to Comply
5) Gang Sexual Assault

He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Wednesday, December 10, 2014.

Kevin Baigorria, 22, of Toronto, is charged in connection with the first three robberies, with:

1) four counts of Robbery
2) four counts of Forcible Confinement
3) Weapons Dangerous

He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Wednesday, December 10, 2014.

A 17 year-old girl, of Toronto, is charged in connection with the first three robberies, with:

1) four counts of Robbery
2) four counts of Forcible Confinement

She is scheduled to appear in court at 311 Jarvis Street, on Wednesday, December 10, 2014.


It is also alleged that, during the arrest of Lenford Richards, a 29-year-old woman was being held by him against her will.

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, she was in an east-end hotel, working in the sex-trade

- a man knocked on the hotel room door

- when the woman opened the door, she was rushed by three men

- the group ransacked the rooms, assaulted the victims, and stole their personal belongings

- not having cash on hand, the group then demanded she make arrangements for someone else to attend with money

- the money was delivered, but she continued to be forcibly confined


Three people are still outstanding:

1) a black man, in connection with all five robberies
2) a white man, in connection with the last two robberies
3) a black woman, in connection with the first three robberies

The three arrested are being investigated for similar robberies of women in the sex-trade around the GTA.

Police believe there may be other victims.

Tim Horton's "On Scene," Thursday, December 11, 2014 to Thursday, December 18, 2014, Coffee, cops and crime prevention

Between Thursday, December 11, 2014 and Thursday, December 18, 2014, 42 Division Community Response and Auxiliary officers will be partnering with local Tim Horton's establishments for a new awareness initiative.

The officers will be participating in a Holiday Crime Prevention and Safety Blitz. They will be "On Scene" at various Tim Horton's locations to deliver important and pertinent crime prevention and safety information to the morning breakfast and coffee rush customers.

Members of the community are encouraged to drop by any of the locations listed below, say hello to the officers, and receive our Safety Information Package.

The Toronto Police Service will be making a cheque presentation to United Way Toronto on Thursday, December 11, 2014, in the headquarters lobby, at 11 a.m.

Toronto Police Service members have raised millions of dollars for the Toronto charity and contributed over $500,000 to the United Way last year alone.

Chief Bill Blair, United Way Campaign Chair Staff Superintendent Rick Stubbings, United Way Toronto President Susan McIsaac, President of the Senior Officers' Organization Inspector Stu Eley and President of the Toronto Police Association Mike McCormack will participate in the event.

Homicide #56/2014 Musa Yusuf, 52, Guled Yusuf, 22, charged with Second-Degree Murder

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in Homicide #56/2014.

On Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at approximately 8:40 p.m., police were called to 100 High Park Avenue for a stabbing.

It is alleged that:

- once on scene, police located a man with multiple stab wounds

- the man was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced

The man has been identified as Musa Yusuf, 52, of Toronto.

It is further alleged that:

- a suspect was located and arrested a few kilometres from the scene

Guled Yusuf, 22, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Second-Degree murder.

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at 2 p.m.

Missing woman from Calgary, Shannon Madill (Burgess), 25

The Calgary Police Service is seeking the public's assistance locating a missing woman who may be in either Vancouver or Toronto.

Shannon Madill (Burgess), 25, was last seen by a family member at approximately 12:30 a.m., on Thursday, November 27, 2014, at her residence in the 1900 block of Spiller Road S.E. When she didn't arrive for plans with family and friends on Sunday, they became concerned and reported her missing on Monday, December 1, 2014.

Although there are no indications of foul play, it is out of character for her to not be in touch with family and friends and police are concerned for her welfare. Shannon frequently travels to Edmonton, Alta., to visit friends and for work as a performance artist and stand-up comedian.

Investigators have also received information indicating she may be in either Vancouver, B.C., or Toronto, Ont.

She is described as white, approximately 130 lbs., 5'6" tall, with red hair and green eyes.

Arrest in series of bank robberies, Franco Cavaliere, 28

On Wednesday, December 10, 2014, Hold Up investigators arrested a man for a series of bank robberies throughout the city.

On Thursday, February 13, 2014, a man attended a bank branch in the Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West area.

It is alleged that:

- he concealed his identity by wearing gloves, a baseball cap and a hooded jacket

- he approached a teller and showed her a note demanding money

- he threatened to shoot her if she didn't comply

- he lifted up his hoodie, revealing a silver handgun

- the teller handed over a quantity of cash

On Wednesday, October 1, 2014, the same man attended the bank near Bloor Street East and Sherbourne Street area.

It is alleged that:

- he was disguised with a fake beard, wig, and dark glasses

- he approached a teller, produced a note demanding a specific amount of money

- in the note he threatened to kill her

- he was given a quantity of money and fled

On Wednesday, October 15, 2014, he attended a bank branch in the Danforth Avenue and Logan Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- he had disguised his identity by wearing a fake beard, baseball cap and hoodie

-he handed the teller a typed note indicating a hold up

- no weapon was seen

- he obtained a quantity of cash and fled

On Thursday, November 13, 2014, he attended a bank branch in the Bathurst Street and Lawrence Avenue West area.

It is alleged that:

- he was disguised by wearing a blonde wig, gloves and a hat

- he approached a teller, gave her a note demanding a specific amount of money

- the note also stated he has Hepatitis C and a gun

- he was given some money and left the branch

Further investigation by Hold Up detectives revealed Franco Cavaliere, 28, of Toronto to be the man allegedly responsible for these robberies. He has been charged with:

1) Robbery While Armed with a Firearm
2) three counts of Robbery
3) four counts of Use Disguise with Intent

He was scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, December 11, 2014, 10 a.m.

This is the latest instalment of 11 Division's "Wanted Ones." We are requesting the public's assistance locating Rababa Shone Dees, 30, of Toronto. He is currently wanted on two Warrants for:

1) two counts of Failing to Comply with Probation
2) Unlawfully in a Dwelling
3) Theft Under $5000
4) Mischief Under $5000

His photograph has been released.

Homicide #55/2014, 42 Bonnechere Crescent

On Thursday, December 4, 2014, shortly before 1 p.m., officers responded to an emergency call for a stabbing at 42 Bonnechere Crescent.

It is alleged that:

- officers from 41 Division arrived to find a man who had suffered obvious trauma and was pronounced at the scene

- a second man was located at the scene and arrested

- Homicide investigators attended and investigated this incident

A post-mortem examination was conducted and the cause of death was a stab wound.

The deceased has now been identified as Timothy James Baile, 49, the resident of the apartment.

Bradley Allen Shreve, 52, also a resident of the apartment, has now been charged with the following:

1) Second-Degree Murder

He appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Friday, December 5, 2014.

Missing man, Phillip Phen, 80

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a missing man.

Phillip Phen, 80, was last seen on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at approximately 12 p.m., in the McCowan Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East area.

He is described as Asian, 5'4", 125 lbs., bald, with a thin build and clean-shaven. He was wearing a dark-blue hoodie with a Toronto Maple Leafs logo on the chest, light-blue cotton pants, black Crocs and a dark-coloured toque.

He is also wearing a Medic Alert bracelet.

Police are concerned for his safety.

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance with an Arson investigation.

On Monday, December 1, 2014, at 12:57 a.m., police responded to a 9-1-1 call for a fire in the Oxford Street and Spadina Avenue area.

On Monday, November 24, 2014, at approximately 10 p.m., police responded to call for a fire at the rear of 214 Augusta Avenue.

It is reported that:

- a man was captured on video entering the garage

- he set a fire with items found in the garage

- he fled the scene

Toronto Police are now releasing security camera images and video of the man responsible for both arsons.

Sexual Assault Alert, York University campus, Police request assistance identifying two men

The Toronto Police Service is alerting the public to a sexual assault investigation and requesting the public's assistance identifying two men involved.

On Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at approximately 10:45 p.m., a woman, 18, was waiting for a bus, out front of the Student Center on the York University Campus.

It is reported that:

- she was approached by two unknown men and sexually assaulted

- the men then boarded a nearby TTC bus and left the area

The men are described as:

1) Hispanic, 22-25, 6'0"-6'2", skinny build, dark hair, dark eyes, beard or goatee. He was wearing a light-brown or white jacket, dark-red baseball cap with a white logo.

2) Black, late 20s, 5'8", beard, wearing a baseball cap, white T-shirt, silver chain necklace, jeans and a belt with a jewel-encrusted belt buckle.

14 Division's "Fugitive Friday," Dang Van Tran, 42

This is the latest instalment of 14 Division's "Fugitive Friday." We are looking for Dang Van Tran, 42, of Toronto.

He is wanted for:

1) Expose Genitals To Person Under 16 years
2) Indecent Act
3) two counts of Fail to Comply Probation

On Tuesday, September 2, 2014, police responded to a call for a man committing an indecent act in a school yard.

It is alleged that:

- a man was standing in the middle of a school yard during school hours

- he was engaged in an indecent act

- there were school-aged children nearby at the time

- police were called and he was arrested that day

- he has now failed to show up for his appointed court date and remains a fugitive from the law.

He is described as an Asian, 5'7", 130 lbs., black hair, brown eyes, has tattoo on his forearm of a cross and the words "RIP Andy".

The Toronto Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance identifying two men wanted in a Sexual Assault investigation.

The Toronto Police Service is alerting the public to a sexual assault investigation and requesting the public's assistance identifying two men involved.

Two men have been arrested and charged in this incident.

Maxie Rose, 21, and Joaquin Diaz, 27, both of Toronto, are now charged with:

1) Sexual Assault

Both were are scheduled to make a court appearance on Saturday, December 12, 2014, at Old City Hall, court room 101, at 10 a.m., for a bail hearing.

55 Division's "Wanted Wednesday," Bhesham Surooj, 25 Photograph released

In the latest edition of "Wanted Wednesday," the 55 Division Crime Management Team is looking for Bhesham Surooj, 25, of Toronto.

It is alleged that:

- in June 2013, Bhesham was convicted of Break-and-Enter and placed on probation with conditions for two years to "Keep The peace and be of Good Behaviour"

- in November 2014, Bhesham broke into a premises on Danforth Avenue and obtained a quantity of cash

He is wanted for:

1) Break-and-Enter and Commit
2) Possession of Break-in Instruments
3) Fail To Comply – Probation

He is described as 5'6", 120 lbs., black hair, brown eyes.

Toronto Police Service launches gridlock-reduction campaign, Update, New Public Service Announcement released

On Monday, December 8, 2014, Chief William Blair launched the Service’s gridlock-reduction campaign "You know you shouldn't...so don't."

See previous release.

As part of the ongoing campaign, the TPS today released the next PSA in the series. "Steer it to clear it" reminds drivers not to block traffic after minor collisions but to take their vehicles to collision reporting centres.
