On Monday, February 20, 2017, at 2:17 a.m., police were on patrol in the Victoria Park Avenue near McNicoll Avenue area.
It is alleged that:
- an officer observed a 2015 Acura, driving northbound on Victoria Park Avenue, at a high rate of speed
- a speed-measuring device, used by the officer, registered a speed of 203 km/h in a 60 km/h zone
A 24-year-old man, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) Stunt Driving - Drive at rate of speed - 50 km/h or more over speed limit
2) Speeding 203 km/h in 60 km/h zone
3) Race motor vehicle
His licence has been suspended for seven days for stunt driving
The vehicle has also been impounded for seven days
He is scheduled to appear in court at 1530 Markham Road on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, 1:30 p.m., courtroom E4.
On September 30, 2007, Bill 203 came into effect. This important piece of legislation addresses the issues of speed/stunt driving on Ontario roads, to ensure the safety of all road users, and remove those who put innocent people at risk with bad driving behavior.
