On Monday, January 30, 2017, a man was arrested at the scene of an escort robbery in an apartment in the Gerrard Street East and Yonge Street area
It is alleged that:
- a man contacted a woman posing as a client
- the man was allowed entry
- the man then displayed a weapon
- the man was armed with a firearm
- the man pointed the firearm at the victims and forced them all into one area
- he ordered them to hand over money and valuables
- police were called and they located the man exiting the elevator and a gun was recovered
Between Monday, January 9, 2017 and Monday, January 30, 2017, similar robberies occurred and the man in one incident was armed with a small machete.
Oral Carver Lewis, 41, of Toronto was arrested. He is charged with
1.) two counts of Robbery Use Imitation firearm
2) three counts of Forcible confinement
3) six counts of Fail to comply with recognizance
4) Robbery
5) Weapons Dangerous
He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Monday, January 30, 2017, 10 a.m., room 501
