On Tuesday, July 9, 2013, police responded to a check-address call at an apartment in the Sherbourne Street/Dundas Street East area.
Police located a deceased man inside the apartment.
The death was deemed suspicious and a post-mortem examination was conducted. The result of the examination is not being released at this time.
The victim has been identified as Hussein Sobrie, 45, of Toronto.
It is alleged that:
- the victim was assaulted on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 1 a.m., in the
Sherbourne Street/Dundas Street East area
- the victim died as a result of the injuries sustained during the assault
On Friday, July 12, 2013, Derrick Witter, 52, of Toronto, also known as Congo, was charged with Manslaughter.
He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, July 13, 2013, 10 a.m.
