On Thursday, March 7, 2013, at 3:46 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal-injury collision at Cliffside Drive/East Haven Drive.
It is reported that:
- four children were attempting to cross Cliffside Drive on the south side of East Haven Drive, from the east side to the west side
- a 64 year-old-man was driving a 2010 Freightliner garbage truck westbound on East Haven Drive, turning left to southbound Cliffside Drive
- as the truck made the left turn, three of the children were struck
A five-year-old-girl suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other children suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.
