On Thursday, May 26, 2016, at 9:45 p.m., the Toronto Police Service received a call for sounds of gunshots in the Oakwood Avenue and Vaughan Road area.
It is alleged that:
- a man was on the roof of a building and fired multiple gunshots
- no one was injured as a result of the shooting and he fled the scene
- as a result of the investigation, Oketo Hazelwood, 31, was identified as the man responsible for the shooting
- on Sunday, June 5, 2016, he attended a Toronto hospital with a stab wound to his abdomen and was treated for his injuries
Subsequently, Oketo Hazelwood, 31 of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with;
1) Discharge firearm
2) Use of firearm during commission of an indictable offence
3) Possession of a weapon.
He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Friday, July 15, 2016, 9 a.m., room 301.
