On Friday, June 3, 2016, the Toronto Police Service will be holding our 29th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, in support of Special Olympics Ontario. Members of the Service, accompanied by members from other policing agencies, law-enforcement partners, members of the public and Special Olympic athletes, will be running/walking through the streets of Toronto to raise awareness and money for Special Olympics Ontario.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a community-based, province-wide event that sees the "Flame of Hope" carried across Ontario by members of law enforcement agencies. The Law Enforcement Torch Run has grown into the most important fundraising effort of Special Olympics programs around the world and has been designated by the Ontario Chiefs of Police as their "Charity of Choice."
As one of the originating agencies of the Law Enforcement Torch Run in Canada, members of the Toronto Police Service are proud to take part in this important fundraising event which helps individuals with intellectual disabilities
The Toronto Police Service invites everyone to come out and join us at this years' run/walk in support of Special Olympics Ontario. Entry fee is the purchase of a 2016 Law Enforcement Torch Run T-Shirt for $20 which can be bought at the run. All proceeds go directly to Special Olympics Ontario.
Opening ceremonies will start at 1:15 p.m. at the front courtyard of Toronto Police Headquarters, 40 College Street.
The Toronto Police Service is also proud to announce that, during this year's opening ceremonies, the Bank of Montreal and the Toronto Police Services Board will be making significant donations in support of Special Olympics Ontario.
