Homicide #24/2013, Update, Body of infant girl located

On Thursday, May 23, 2013, police were called by a local hospital regarding a woman who had given birth and the whereabouts of the infant were unknown.

Based on the results of the initial investigation, the Homicide Squad was notified and took carriage of the investigation.

On Thursday, May 30, 2013 as a result of information received from executives with Oasis Clothing Bank, members of the Toronto Police Service and the Waterloo Regional Police Service conducted a search of a tractor-trailer at a storage facility in Cambridge, Ontario.

The body of an infant girl was recovered by police.

The remains are believed to be those of the victim in this investigation.

A post-mortem examination was conducted on Friday, May 31, 2013. The results of that examination are not being released at this time.

Family members have been informed of the recovery of the victim.
