The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance with an aggravated assault investigation.
It is reported that:
- on Saturday, June 1, 2013, police responded to a 9-1-1 call for an unknown trouble at a residence in the Brimley Road/Finch Avenue East area
- officers located a 66-year-old woman suffering from obvious signs of trauma
- the woman was taken to hospital and listed in critical condition
Jianwen Chen, 39, of Toronto, was arrested at the scene.
He is charged with:
1) Aggravated assault
2) Attempt murder
A court date has not yet been set.
On Monday, June 3, 2013, the woman succumbed to her injuries.
She is identified as Xin Ying Lu, 66, of Toronto.
The investigation has now been taken over by the Homicide Squad and is ongoing.
