On Friday, February 26, 2016, a man was arrested by 55 Division in connection with a Fraud investigation.
It is alleged that:
- Giuseppe Difede, 55, entered a bank in the Danforth Avenue and Pape Avenue area and identfied himself as another client of the bank
- he was able to provide all the necessary information to convince the teller that he was the other client
- he was able to wire $460,000 from the victim’s personal bank account to a bank in Greece.
On Friday, February 26, at 10:22 a.m., Giuseppe Difede, 55, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:
1) Fraud Over
2) Identity Theft
3) Personation
4) Fail to Comply Probation
He appeared in court at College Park on Friday, February 26, 2016.
The Toronto bank was able to retrieve the funds several days later.
Police believe there may be other victims.
