Thursday, February 4, 2016, 10 a.m., Toronto Centre Tax Services Office, Canada Revenue Agency, 1 Front Street West, Ontario’s police chiefs launch public awareness campaign against growing, sophisticated threats posed by tax, utilities, and other scams

The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) will kick off its annual Crime Prevention Campaign by raising the alarm over increasingly sophisticated scams that are defrauding victims of millions of dollars.

On Thursday, February 4, 2016, at 10 a.m., at the Toronto Centre Tax Services Office, Canada Revenue Agency, at 1 Front Street West, Chief Jeff McGuire, Niagara Regional Police Service, and President of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police; Deputy Chief James Ramer, Toronto Police Service; and Vince Pranjivan, Assistant Commissioner, Ontario Region, Canada Revenue Agency, will speak to the media.

Also in attendance will be representatives from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and other police services as well as campaign sponsors Accident Support Services International Ltd., Canadian Security Association, Central 1 Credit Union in cooperation with Credit Unions of Ontario, Humber School of Social and Community Services, Insurance Bureau of Canada, Interac Association, the Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation, The Investment Funds Institute of Canada, and Trace Identified.
