On Friday, January 29, 2016, at 5:08 p.m., officers responded to a call for a shooting in the Playfair Avenue and Caledonia Road area.
It is alleged that:
- officers arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound
- lifesaving efforts were made at the scene
- the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced

The victim is now identified as Rocco Zito, 87, of Toronto.
Domenico Scopelliti, 51, of Toronto, surrendered to police on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at midnight. He has been charged with:
1) First-Degree Murder
He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, January 30, 2016, 10 a.m., room 111.
