The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of arrests in a Firearms investigation and seizures of guns, ammunition, cash and drugs.
It is alleged that:
- on Monday, November 9, 2015, members of the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force arrested a man and a woman for firearms-related offences
- as a result, search warrants were executed on a Toronto address.
It is further alleged that the following items were seized:
- a loaded Glock .40 semi-automatic handgun
- two ballistic bulletproof vests
- a drum-style magazine with ammunition (over 50-round capacity)
- ammunition for various types of guns (.40 and .45 calibre)
- a quantity of powdered cocaine, crack cocaine and methamphetamine
- a quantity of cash (proceeds of crime)
Jasfa Brown, 32, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
2) Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
3) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
4) Possession of a Firearm Obtained by the Commission of an Offence
5) Careless Storage of a Firearm
6) Careless Storage of Ammunition
7) three counts of Possession of a Prohibited Device
8) two counts of Possession of Firearm/Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
9) two counts of Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
10) Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
11) Possession of Proceeds of Crime
Amanda Toppin, 31, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
2) Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
3) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
4) Possession of a Firearm Obtained by the Commission of an Offence
5) Careless Storage of a Firearm
6) Careless Storage of Ammunition
7) three counts of Possession of a Prohibited Device
8) two counts of Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
9) Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
10) Possession of Proceeds of Crime
They both appeared in court at Old City Hall on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, 10 a.m., room 103.
