The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a series of night-time residential break-and-enters in midtown Toronto.
It is reported that:
- since the beginning of May, there has been an increase in break-and-enters and attempted break-and-enters into a number of homes while residents were asleep
- the suspects entered through the basement and main-floor windows
- the suspects are targeting cash, wallets/purses and electronic devices, such as iPads.
Police would like to remind the public to be particularly vigilant, including:
- reporting any suspicious behavior to police, especially people looking in parked cars or lurking around houses at night
- ensuring home alarm systems are activated at all times, even while at home
- ensuring their homes and vehicles remain locked at all times
- deterring culprit(s) by leaving their outside light on
