Man and woman wanted in kidnapping investigation Constantine Caldararu, 34, and Elisa Caldararu, 34

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a man and woman in a kidnapping investigation.

It is alleged that:

- in April 2013, a man and a woman in a car approached an elderly woman walking her dog in the Eglinton Avenue West/Allen Road area

- they asked the woman for directions to the nearest hospital and, while doing so, pressured her to buy a gold necklace

- the woman offered a sum of money

- they took the money and gave her the necklace made of fake gold

- they continued to follow the woman as she walked away in an attempt to flee

- they followed the woman back to her apartment building and pressured her for more money while inside the building

- in an attempt to flee again, the woman left her building with her dog

- they continued to follow the woman and demanded that she get into their car

- they drove the woman to a bank and demanded that she withdraw cash

- they then took her cash and fled

Constantine Caldararu, 34, and Elisa Caldararu, 34, both of Toronto, are wanted for:

1) two counts of Fraud
2) Kidnapping
3) Forcible confinement
4) Robbery
5) Extortion
6) four counts of Possession of property obtained by crime
7) Possession of proceeds of crime

Constantine Caldararu is described as white, 6'2", 350 lbs., with black hair, and brown eyes. He has several large tattoos on his body and arms.

Elisa Caldararu is described as 5'8", 250 lbs., with black hair, brown eyes.

On Thursday, April 25, 2013, police executed a search warrant at a home in the Sheppard Avenue East/Markham Road area.

If is further alleged that:

- police seized $16,000 in Canadian currency, two pounds of fake gold, jewellery used in various offences and a quantity of the victims' gold

Police believe there may be other victims.
