On Friday, December 19, 2014, at approximately 5:40 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Finch Avenue East at Neilson Road.
It is alleged that:
- a 14-year-old girl was attempting to cross Neilson Road, from the east side to the west side, in the area of the south side of the intersection
- a 27-year-old man was driving a TTC bus, northbound on Neilson Road, and was attempting to make a right turn to eastbound Finch Avenue East
- the bus struck the girl
- the girl suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene
- the bus failed to remain at the scene of the collision
Dhanbir Shergill, 28, of Bowmanville, has been charged with:
1) Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death
2) Fail to stop at the scene of an accident
He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Friday, March 20, 2015, 10 a.m., room 412.
