The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of two Fraud investigations in the Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue area.
It is reported that:
- on Friday January, 9, 2015, at 7 p.m., a 42-year-old man was approached by two unknown men, who asked if he would cash a cheque for them through a ATM
- the unknown men advised the man that they were from out of town and required the cash to take a bus home
- the man was shown a cheque and was handed a sealed envelope
- on a later date, the man was notified by his bank that the envelope was empty
It is further reported that:
- on Friday, February 13, 2015, at 7 p.m., a 24-year-old man was approached by a man who asked if he would cash a cheque for him
- the unknown man advised that he was in rush to catch a bus
- the man deposited the cheque and withdrew some money for the unknown man
- on a later date, it was discovered that the cheque was fraudulent
The unknown men are described as:
Suspect #1: white, 5'11"-6'0", short dark hair with grey in it, 30-40, puffy face and clean-shaven.
Suspect #2: white, 5'6", mid-to-late 40s, red hair, full red beard, small circular self-adhesive bandage on his right cheek, last seen wearing a toque.
