On Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at 1:45 p.m., media, family, friends and supporters are invited to attend Marshall McLuhan Catholic Secondary School at 1107 Avenue Road for a special presentation.
Sleeping Children Around The World (SCAW) is an organization that provides bed kits for children in impoverished countries around the world. In order for children to attend school, they need a school uniform. Not only do they get a uniform, they are also provided with school supplies, a mattress to sleep on and a net to protect the children from malaria, all for $35. All of the proceeds (100%) go to the children.
The Toronto Police Service, Sergeant Jim Browne and Marshall McLuhan Catholic Secondary School, have worked in partnership to raise money for this charity over the Christmas season. The school took part in a fundraiser for this organization. The students raised over $15,000 for SCAW and will be presenting the cheque to Dave Dryden, SCAW representative.
