Five men face 27 charges in firearm/drugs investigation, Loaded handgun seized, Photograph of handgun released

On Wednesday, April 24, 2013, members of 42 Division Major Crime Unit started an investigation into an armed man.

It is alleged that:

- police located a man on a TTC bus in the Lawrence Avenue East/Orton Park Road area

- police found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun on the man

It is further alleged that:

- on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, police executed a search warrant at a home in the Lawrence Avenue East/Orton Park area

- police seized a quantity of marijuana, cocaine and hashish

Tevin Dacosta, 18, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Possession of a restricted weapon
2) Unauthorized presence of a firearm in a motor vehicle
3) Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
4) Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
5) Careless storage of a firearm
6) three counts of Possession of a prohibited weapon obtained by the commission of an offence
7) Fail to comply with a recognizance
8) Possession of Marijuana
9) Possession of Cocaine
10) Possession of Hashish
11) Possession of Marijuana
12) Possession of Cocaine
13) Possession of Hashish

Troy DaCosta, 18; Yerodin Henry, 37; Troy Oliver DaCosta, 37; Tamore DaCosta, 39; all of Toronto, have each been charged with:

1) Possession of Marijuana
2) Possession of Cocaine
3) Possession of Hashish

They were scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Thursday, April 25, 2013, room 101, at 10 a.m.
