On Thursday, January 15, 2015, a man, a woman and a 15-year-old boy were arrested for the armed robbery of a convenience store, where shots were fired, in the Eglinton Avenue West and Oakwood Avenue area.
It is alleged that:
- the man and the boy entered a convenience store, jumped the counter and physically attacked the male store clerk
- during the attack, they demanded money
- the man pulled out a firearm, pointed it at the victim, then struck him with the gun
- the victim was robbed of his personal jewelry and the physical attack continued
- the boy, at one point, had possession of the firearm
- as the struggle with the victim continued, the firearm was discharged, and two rounds were fired
- the victim managed to escape and flee but was chased down by the man and boy
The 27-year-old victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Ammaan Charley, 22, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with:
1) Robbery while armed with firearm
2) Discharge Firearm Endanger Life
3) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
4) Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is unauthorized
5) Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
6) Possession of a Firearm obtained by Crime
7) Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to a Prohibition Order
8) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
He was scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Friday, January 16, 2015, 10 a.m.
A 15 year-old boy, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with:
1) Robbery while armed with firearm
2) Discharge Firearm Endanger Life
3) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
4) Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is unauthorized
5) Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
6) Possession of a Firearm obtained by Crime
7) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
8) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
He was scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Friday, January 16, 2015, 10 a.m.
Rashida Beckett, 25, of no fixed address, has been arrested and charged with:
1) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
2) Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is unauthorized
3) Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
4) Possession of a Firearm obtained by Crime
5) Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to a Prohibition Order
6) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
She was scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Friday, January 16, 2015, 10 a.m.
