On Friday, January 9, 2015, a man was arrested and charged with the robbery of two financial institutions.
It is alleged that:
- on Friday, January 2, 2015, at 6:30 p.m., a man entered a bank branch located near Yonge Street and Lawrence Avenue West
- the man ran up to the branch teller, who was with a customer
- the man then pointed a silver handgun at the victim and made a verbal demand for money
- the man ordered everyone in the branch not to move
- the man handed the victim a plastic bag and demanded the money be put in the bag
-the man received a quantity of money and fled the branch
The man immediately attended another bank branch located at Avenue Road, north of Lawrence Avenue West
It is alleged that:
- on Friday, January 2, 2015, at 6:50 p.m., the man entered the branch and ran up to the victim pointing a silver handgun
- the man ordered everyone not to move and not to press the button
- the man handed over a plastic bag and demanded money
- the man then fled the area
Further investigation by Hold Up led to the arrest of Conrey Francis, 50, of Toronto, on Friday, January 9, 2015.
He has been charged with:
1) two counts of Robbery while armed with firearm
2) two counts of Disguise with intent
He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, January 10, 2015, 10 a.m., room 101.
