Man wanted in Robbery investigation, Elm Street and Yonge Street area, Update, Man arrested, faces three charges, Public assistance sought identifying woman who took victim's cell phone

On Tuesday, December 23, 2014, the Toronto Police Service requested the public's assistance identifying a man wanted for Robbery.

On Monday, December 22, 2014, a man was standing in the Elm Street and Yonge Street area.

On Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at approximately 1 a.m., Joel Brown, 44, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Robbery
2) two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Wednesday, December 24, 2014, 10 a.m., room 101.

Investigators are also seeking the public’s assistance identifying a woman.

It is reported that:

- during the robbery, the woman walked into the middle of Elm Street, picked up the victim’s cell phone, and left

She is described as non-white, with a long, black ponytail. She was wearing a black hat, dark 3/4-length winter coat with a fur trim, black winter boots with tassels and red soles, carrying a black purse. She was seen getting out of a dark-blue Honda CRV which was parked on the south side of Elm Street, with a trailer hitch.

A security camera image of the woman has been released.

The Toronto Police Service would like to thank a Good Samaritan who collected the money strewn from the robbery and returned it to the victim.
